Special performances celebrating the 20th anniversary will also be staged by Sa-ik Jang, ILLIT, Urban Zakapa, and more.
Ji-hoon Ju, who won the Outstanding Korean Actor for the Netflix hit <The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call>, which topped the global non-English TV show rankings, will attend with director Do-yun Lee. IU, who captivated critics and audiences alike by playing dual roles in <When Life Gives You Tangerines>, will also attend, adding special meaning to the anniversary stage. Minha Kim, who played Sunja in <Pachinko Season 2>—a winner of both Best Miniseries and Best Actress in the International Competition Category—will be present as well.
Ji-hyun Na, director of the <The Son>, which received critical acclaim for its original setting and direction, and Umut Aral, who directed Turkiye’s nationwide hit drama <The Good & The Bad>, will also attend.
The presence of Asian stars is also drawing attention. Kentaro Sakaguchi, who enjoys a large fan base in Korea; Film Rachanun Mahawan, who recently held successful fan meetings in Macau, the Philippines, and Japan and is loved across Asia; Daniel Padilla, the Filipino box-office sensation; and Anna Jobling, Malaysia’s rising star—these leading actors representing countries across Asia will also grace the stage.
Unique chemistry that can only be seen at this year’s Seoul International Drama Awards is also raising expectations. The ceremony will be hosted by Doyoun Jang and Taecyeon Ok. In particular, Doyoun Jang, who once showcased heart-fluttering chemistry with Kentaro Sakaguchi on the variety show <Getaway and Go with Jangdobari>, is drawing attention for their reunion on stage. Hye-ran Yeom, who played Aesun’s mother Gwang-rye in <When Life Gives You Tangerines>, will appear as a presenter and is expected to deliver a touching mother-daughter chemistry moment with IU. In addition, Seohyun, Yo-won Lee, Chuu, Sung-hwan Koo, Sung-hyun Moon, and CHA NI will also serve as presenters.
The 20th anniversary will also be celebrated with a spectacular lineup of performances. Korea’s renowned sori master Sa-ik Jang will deliver a special stage, interpreting the “Light And Shadow” of human life and drama through song. YOUNGTAK, winner of the Outstanding Korean Drama O.S.T, will also take the stage following his award, joined by ILLIT and URBAN ZAKAPA, adding even greater variety to the celebration.
The 20th Seoul International Drama Awards ceremony and red carpet, hosted by the Korean Broadcasters Association and the Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee, and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel on October 2, and will air on SBS TV at 6 p.m. on October 3.
